BETH HUMPHREY

BETH HUMPHREY

ARTIST STATEMENT

I think about cycles in nature, gentle and violent forces at a moment of change. The shape of things at moments of transformation. I build textured surfaces on brown paper bags. I work with drawing, paint, paper, light and shadow to invite the possibility of narrative and nearness to nature through shape, color, line, or rhythm.

Beth lives in the Catskill Mountians with her husband, poet Guy Reed and their two daughters.
